The Flip It Forward Foundation provides financial assistance for gymnastics training, equipment and competition fees, honoring Coach Jay Robinson's belief that cost should never be a barrier to sport.
We fund training fees, competition registration, equipment and coaching costs so athletes focus on the sport, not the bill.
"Every athlete who wants to compete deserves the chance to compete."
The Flip It Forward Foundation is a South Carolina nonprofit born from the legacy of Coach Jay Robinson, known to athletes as Jay-R. Coach Jay spent his career making sure cost was never the reason a talented young person walked away from gymnastics.
We continue that work by connecting families in financial need with direct scholarship support, funded by donors who believe in the same thing Coach Jay did: the sport belongs to everyone.
Funds go directly toward training fees, equipment and competition costs. No red tape.
We are based at Carolina Stars Gymnastics in Fort Mill, SC, serving our local gymnastics community first.
Our board reviews every application. Awards are based on need, not politics.
Incorporated in South Carolina with bylaws, governance and a board committed to the long term.
Coach Jay Robinson, also known as Jay-R, dedicated his coaching career to one idea: no athlete gets left behind because their family is struggling.
Coach Jay understood something many coaches forget. The kids who need the sport most are often the ones who face the steepest barriers to access. He made it his work to close that gap, quietly and consistently, for as long as he coached.
The Flip It Forward Foundation is his legacy in permanent form. It takes the belief he lived by and builds an organization around it, one that will keep funding athletes long after the ribbons and meet photos have faded.
Everything we do, from how we award scholarships to how we govern our board, reflects the values Coach Jay modeled: fairness, consistency and an unshakeable belief in young people.
Known by athletes as Jay-R, Coach Jay was a presence in the gym and in the lives of the families he served.
Based at 1080 Maxwell Mill Rd, the foundation stays close to the community where Coach Jay did his work.
The foundation carries his name forward through direct action, not just remembrance.
